By David Demaree - December 2008

When you wrote “Hell Yeah”, did you ever think It would be a big rock anthem of 2008?
When ever you write a song you hope it is going to be successful. But we definitely knew that it had that anthemic big arena rock feel to it. But we just weren’t sure how it would be perceived. But we are really proud of it and excited
your site and other people are saying that. When we wrote the song, we went back to some of our early influences such as Guns and Roses and early Metallica. When you think about the story of “Welcome to the Jungle”, that song took a very long time to hit. It’s kinda like that for “Hell Yeah”. You know at first it was out there and fighting the good fight, but it’s slowly being accepted at sports arenas, like hockey, football, so hopefully years down the road it will be one of those staple songs.

So do you miss being known as Revelation Theory?
No, that’s why we changed it. Everybody messed it up.

I saw on line that Britney Spears is a big fan? Since you guys have hit it big, are the psycho fans coming out of the woodwork? They get a little crazier as you become more popular. They kind of take for granted that you’re still a human being. They forget that you are just like them. We have always been accessible to our fans. We go out after our shows and sell cd’s. As things got bigger , Richie especially gets people clammering all over him . Like a year or two ago, they would be excited to see him but now it is like the Beatles frenzy!

If you guys where not in a band what do you think you would be doing?
Man ….. haven’t really thought about that in a long time. I dont want to think about that!

How did it affect you guys a few years ago when music on the internet first hit and a lot of first time bands where being dropped? Then everybody started doing their thing on line. You guys kind of hit that latter part when the labels are getting behing you guys again.
Yeah you know I think what happened to us was kind of a testiment of time. We withstood the ups and downs a little bit and sustained ourselves by putting out a record and selling cd’s. At the end of the day we are straight ahead rock music, and rock stands time. You know all these bands that came and went, they hit when it was hot and then that period of music is over. When you think about bands, look at Stone Temple Pilots, they are back touring again. Guns and Roses just put out another record. They are staple rock bands and we are a rock band.

You guys have a big party rock vibe- who are some of your influences?
Sound Garden, Alice in Chains, Tool. We are also into some of the early 90’s stuff. We all kind of grew up on that same GNR,  AC/DC, Metallica diet.

What are you guys listening to now?
There are some bands we kinda dig. Flyleaf really hit home with us. Avenged Sevenfold is really cool.

You guys have been on the road for awhile. Are there some days you want to beat the crap out of each other?
( laughs)……. Hell yeah. We are used to being in each other’s face. You get ten guys on a bus. We just need to try and steer clear if one guys not feeling that good. You kind of know each other’s personalities.

So whats the next single off the cd?
“Light It Up”. We just went to radio with it four weeks ago.

So you have toured with some great bands over the last year or so. any cool stories you want to share?
Every band we have toured with has been amazing. Going from looking up to them, and now being a peer such as Staind. Vocally, Aaron Lewis has been amazing to me. Then to actually sit down and talk with him and playing shows with him, that was pretty cool. Sevendust, you know they are a hard working band and a staple for us. Now being friends with them is pretty cool. Touring Europe with Evenescence was a high light, a good life experience . Our first tour with Hinder, Girls Gone Wild tour, was our first national tour where we were packing thousand person places and no one had heard of us. It was a new exciting experience for the new rock lifestyle.
